Pak Court Bans Google,Yahoo,Bing And 6 Other Leading Websites for Blasphemy

Lahore High Court in Pakistan has directed a ban order on nine leading websites which has almost made the Pakistanis isolated from the net world. The latest ban extends to Google, Yahoo and Hotmail, MSN, YouTube, Bing and Amazon. The main complain against these websites were posting blasphemous materials which offended the sentiments of the Pakistani citizens. The court orders Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block these nine websites as soon as possible.

Mr Muhammed Sidiq filed a petition in the court accusing that these websites were publishing offensive materials and twisting facts about Quran which are causing tremendous harm to Islam community. In the petition he had demanded for banning these online sites,

Justice Mazher Iqbal Sidhu after hearing the petition issued the order of banning these websites. He has also ordered the PTA Chairman to be present before court on Jun 28, with relevant materials. The spokesman for the Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan, Wahaj-us-Siraj told the media that they have not received such an instruction, till now.

Last month the popular networking site Facebook and Twitter, had been blocked by Pak authorities for holding blasphemous materials which was later restored.
